Spitfire Audio Labs is a software instrument made by musicians in London. The company releases new digital instruments every month, so you can continue to build your collection of sounds. The instruments are created with samples from keyboards, strings, guitars, and synthesizers. A lot of the sounds have a very cinematic tone to them, but they can be used in other capacities by adjusting the simple sliders on the plugin that control their expression and dynamics. The large dial in the center controls variations such as reverb, attack, decay, sustain, and release.
But at the same time, it’s important to realize that this doesn’t really count as practice. As Dr. Ericsson writes, “You seldom improve much without giving the task your full attention.” If you’ve had a long day and your mind feels like it’s drizzling out of your ear lobe, then maybe that’s not the best time to try to focus intensely on a very difficult leap forward.
In the diagram below, the left side demonstrates how two in-phase waves sum to an amplified resulting signal. The right side demonstrates two precisely out-of-phase waves are attenuated to silence.

Late last year, Congress came close to rescinding the Songwriter’s Capital Gains Equity Act as part of its tax code overhaul. But fortunately, last-minute lobbying by representatives from Nashville and other songwriting communities across the United States saved it.
And if you’re wondering where The Carters’ “APES**T” is on this list… so are they. Despite being nominated for “Music Video of the Year,” Jay and Bey’s trap hit never reached higher than unlucky #13 on the Billboards.

“Happier”: Wait, no… what are you… no! Not the dog, come on, man, not the dog, what are you doing to me, Marshmello? Okay, so here’s a form I’m not adequately equipped to categorize or compare to anything else: what’s stumping me is what to do with the three-bar space in between the pre-chorus and the solid chorus/refrain that’s introduced at the beginning. For now, I’m lumping it in with the chorus as part of a chorus variation. But you could also think of it as an extended part of the pre-chorus, especially as its lyric is taken from it. Or, I guess we could even call it an “interlude.” It’s slippery. I have to highlight the half-bridge that ends the song — you almost never see half-bridges.
Solution: Look for shows that match your vibe and set list. If you only have twenty minutes of music, it’s probably not time to headline, but you can definitely take part in a showcase! If there isn’t one available, create your own or hit up some open mics! If you feel you’re totally ready to go, tighten up your online presence and start reaching out to venues and promoters. If you’re new to gigging, have a support team around to keep you from panicking over broken guitar strings, and to evaluate shows and help you strengthen your skills as a performer.
The resources in timbre are also quite limited, as the piece is composed for a single instrument. The piano is a great instrument with regards to dynamic range, but not quite as versatile in terms of timbre. The problem that springs from these limitations, especially the first, is how to fulfil the needs of a musical composition to provide enough variety so that the music would engage the listener, have forward momentum, and contain a sense of tension and resolution, which is fundamental for musical syntax.
